Cottage Dream Vacations began with one cottage. Ken Dunn, founder and CEO, bought his first property to build family memories. Soon, inquiries came in from other aspiring cottage owners who wanted to do the same, and they never stopped. That demand led Ken to found Investor’s Growth Syndicate, a real estate training program for Canadians looking to build their own cottage and short-term rental portfolios. But the teaching business was only half the story.
The success of that first cottage set Ken’s own portfolio in motion too, and it’s grown ever since. Today, Cottage Dream Vacations includes ten cottages and short-term rentals, with four resorts in progress. All of it is built on one belief. Owning, or simply visiting, a cottage or resort shouldn’t be complicated.
We’re enamoured with Canada’s stunning natural beauty and committed to offering exceptional hospitality and wellness experiences that help people forge deeper connections with this remarkable country.

Founder and CEO Ken Dunn leads the organization, backed by senior executives with more than 100 years of combined expertise in real estate, hospitality, and operations.
With 20 years in real estate investing and 14 years in investigative policing before that, Ken has built a real estate portfolio worth $50 million and growing to $100 million as current projects are completed. He’s a serial entrepreneur who has also built, scaled, and exited ventures in mortgage lending, property management, direct sales, and publishing. Ken owns Canadian Hot Tubs, a 45-year-old hot tub, cold plunge and mini-Nordic spa manufacturer with a multi-generational reputation for quality. Every Cottage Dream Vacations property uses its products.
In one year, Cottage Dream Vacations grew from three employees to more than 30. Together, they’re a fast-moving team building Canada’s next generation of cottage resorts.
The company’s existing cottages consistently rent at more than 80% occupancy. Meanwhile, three resorts are underway: Hay Bay Resort on Lake Ontario in Napanee, Calabogie Lake Resort in the Ottawa Valley, and Lake St. Peter Resort in Haliburton. The strategic direction involves expanding to 100 luxury cottage short-term rentals and 15 to 20 luxury resorts across Canada. We’ll also launch Dream Trip Club, a loyalty program rewarding guests who return again and again.
As an enterprising and rapidly expanding start-up, we’ve experienced meteoric and exponential growth in our group of companies, going from three to over 30 employees in just one year!
